About 500 women representing 40 associations from five continents converge on Indian Wells Nov. 8-10 for the TIAW Global Partnership Forum, hosted by The International Alliance for Women and the local Women Leaders Forum. Political and business leaders will speak, and programs will encourage networking and involvement in leadership, business and finance, health and education, governance, philanthropy, and more. An awards gala and a golf and spa day round out the event at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa.

Go Ape!

Desert Art Center in Palm Springs hosts a silent auction on Dec. 8, 4-7 p.m., to benefit C.H.E.E.T.A. Primate Sanctuary. C.H.E.E.T.A. stands for Creative Habitats and Enrichment for Endangered & Threatened Apes. Dan Westfall started the sanctuary when he received custody of Cheeta of Tarzan movies fame. The sanctuary provides residence, care, and rehabilitation for homeless or unwanted ex-show business primates. There are chimpanzees, orangutans, and monkeys at the desert refuge. Guinness Book of World Records recently named Cheeta, 75, the world’s oldest chimpanzee.

A Night to Remember

“Memories,” a Judy Fund Gala, presented through the partnership of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Gelfand family, is set for Nov. 16 at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa in Indian Wells. The gala honors the civic leadership and volunteerism of Judy Gelfand — who died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2004 — and raises money to advance research and improve care for millions of Alzheimer’s patients.

An Affair of the Art

The seventh annual Rancho Mirage Art Affaire unfolds on Nov. 3 and 4 at beautiful Whitewater Park, located at 71-560 San Jacinto Drive. Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days, the juried fine art and jazz festival features 100 visual artists in a variety of media. Smooth jazz performances deliver the cool vibe. Enjoy fine food, a beer and wine garden, and children’s art activities, with event proceeds benefiting Palm Springs Air Museum and Eisenhower Medical Center’s Arts in Healthcare program.
